Jeb Bush destroys Debbie Wasserman Schultz over IT aide scandal in 1 tweet

Jeb Bush, former Florida governor, excoriated House Democrats — and Debbie Wasserman Schultz specifically — over the arrest of Wasserman Schultz's former IT aide in a tweet on Saturday.

“The incompetence and terrible judgment displayed by Debbie Wasserman Schultz and House Democrats is jarring,” Bush wrote and shared an article by the Wall Street Journal titled "The Scandal That Matters."

In the essay, writer Kimberley Strassel claimed that the Awan/Wasserman Schultz scandal is "at the very least, a tale of massive government incompetence" which "allowed a family of accused swindlers to bilk federal taxpayers out of millions and even put national secrets at risk."

Strassel added that "in a more accountable world, House Democrats would be forced to step down."

Awan was arrested in July at Washington D.C.'s Dulles International Airport on bank fraud charges while reportedly trying to flee the U.S. for his home country of Pakistan.

He was charged with multiple counts of bank fraud which stemmed from an investigation of an information technology procurement scandal in the U.S. House.

Awan was the lead suspect in an ongoing criminal probe into security breaches within the House of Representatives that was launched on Feb. 2. He allegedly doubled charged the U.S. House for IT equipment and may have exposed sensitive House members’ information online. According to previous reports, Wasserman Schultz kept Awan on her payroll, even though he had been banned from House servers by Capitol Hill security.

Wasserman Schultz fired Awan only after his arrest, which she chalked up to racial profiling and Islamophobia.
