Beto O'Rourke is selling a product Texas voters don't want to buy

Beto O'Rourke is going to lose his Senate race against Ted Cruz. After the millions of dollars raised, after countless puff pieces, after the "cultural phenomenon" of "Betomania" — really only a media phenomenon —  there is one inescapable fact of this Senate race: "If you're gonna run in Texas, ya can't be a liberal man."

O'Rourke is a leftist. That should have been clear when he called for banning AR-15 rifles. Or maybe when as a congressman he voted against a ban on federal funding for abortion. Or perhaps when O'Rourke opposed a border wall and attacked President Donald Trump as a "racist" for wanting to secure the border.

But if that doesn't show how O'Rourke is out of step with Texas voters, how about waffling for two minutes in a CNN town hall when asked whether he would vote to impeach president Trump?

In the end, O'Rourke said he would vote to impeach Trump, and that should put an end to any talk of "Senator O'Rourke." After all, there are more Republicans than Democrats in Texas, and they love Trump.
