'FAKE NEWS ALERT': NYT savaged for BS headline in Nikki Haley hit piece

Conservative Review

The liberal New York Times is taking fire for publishing a misleading hit piece on U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley for supposedly ordering the State Department to purchase $52,701 motorized curtains for her official residence.

The headline of the piece reads: "Nikki Haley’s View of New York Is Priceless. Her Curtains? $52,701." Gardiner Harris, writing for the Times, leads his story reporting that the State Department spent tens of thousands of dollars on "customized and mechanized curtains for the picture windows" in the U.N. ambassador's official residence in New York.

But six paragraphs in, the article acknowledges that a spokesperson for Haley said the plans to buy the curtains were made in 2016, during the Obama administration and before Haley was appointed ambassador.

Conservative Review's national security correspondent, Jordan Schachtel, noted that a statement like that from Haley's spox should have killed the New York Times story.

But several Times reporters uncritically tweeted the headline, failing to mention that Haley had no say in the purchase.

Other liberals shared the junk headline too.

Conservatives, lawmakers, and other MSM journalists bashed the Times and other publications running with that headline for the dishonest spin.
