As Christianity Is Wiped Out By Islamic State, Obama Lectures Americans On Religious Tolerance

Yet another act of archeological barbarism and religious persecution has been committed by the forces of "the religion of peace."

The target this time was St. Elijah's in Mosul. The oldest monastery in Iraq, the Christian enclave had stood for 1,400 years. But now it is gone. Razed to dust by the Islamic State.

This is yet another ledger entry to the debit column that shows over 100 demolished religious and historic sites, tombs, shrines, churches and even mosques in Syria and Iraq. Libraries have been ransacked and looted, books burned, artwork destroyed or trafficked. Ancient monuments have been destroyed and museums and libraries have been looted.

Mosul native Father Paul Thabit Habib, who now lives in Kurdish-administered Irbil, warned that its Christian history was "being barbarically levelled."

"We see it as an attempt to expel us from Iraq, eliminating and finishing our existence in this land," he said.

Meanwhile, last week the "leader of the free world" took to the bully pulpit of his droning, fatuous State Of The Union to remind Americans that we must not give in to religious intolerance and prejudice.

"When politicians insult Muslims, whether abroad or our fellow citizens, when a mosque is vandalized, or a kid is called names, that doesn't make us safer. That's not telling it like it is. It's just wrong. (Applause.) It diminishes us in the eyes of the world. It makes it harder to achieve our goals. It betrays who we are as a country. (Applause.)"

Does the Condescender in Chief really need to remind us dolts not to succumb to our non-existent demoniacal tendencies?

In 2001 when 3,000 Americans were massacred across three states and the skyline of our greatest city was permanently altered by 19 Islamic fanatics screaming "Allahu Akhbar!" no mass wave of reprisals against Muslims resulted.

In April 2013 when innocent men, women and an 8-year-old boy (his name was Martin Richard; do not forget him!) were murdered and others including Martin's younger sister were maimed and hobbled by two Islamic fanatics in Boston, Americans went about their business with nary an egg tossed at the local mosque.

Even as hundreds of thousands of Christians across the Islamic world from Africa to the Levant, to the streets of our own Western cities are butchered, raped, and robbed by soldiers of Allah, Muslims are free to walk unmolested and even welcomed in the streets of what was once called Christendom.

And yet...

Those on the left who are hell bent on cultural suicide feel that we are the ones who must be monitored and lectured? How is it that our first impulse is to make sure we in the docile West do not turn justifiable outrage into blanket hatred of an entire religion? As Mark Steyn demands in his book "After America: Get Ready for Armageddon": "How many times do the American people have to ace that test?"

Even the U.S. military is on board with the societal mea culpa.

In November 2009, when Fort Hood Maj. Nidal Malik Hassan screamed "Allahu Akhbar!" and then proceeded to gun down 13 people including a pregnant woman in the name of Islam, the Army's top dog, Gen. George Casey, was quick to put American soldiers on the alert ... against themselves:

“I’m concerned that this increased speculation could cause a backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers. And I’ve asked our Army leaders to be on the lookout for that.”

Yes, because as we have seen, even the slightest provocation in this land of xenophobia and religious intolerance might generate anti-Muslim pogroms from coast-to-coast. One expects the fraud of diversity for diversity's sake to be all the rage in the university faculty lounge. But one would expect more no-nonsense common sense from the U.S. Army's top brass. And yet, Gen. Casey went on to slurp down the multicultural Kool-Aid and finger-lick the bowl:

“Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse.”

I highly doubt that offending the hair-trigger sensibilities of the most violent religion on earth is somehow worse for the families of the 13 victims of Hassan's jihadist killing spree.

This is what cultural suicide looks like. Those who put Christian holy places to the torch across the one-time cradle of this great religion come to realize that not only is the now secular-progressive West in such a malaise that it will not raise a finger to protect its Judeo-Christian heritage, but this toothless tiger is not even a tiger. It is not even a feline. It is a slug, shriveling in the salt of political correctness run amok.

There is an old Mujahideen expression: "You have all the watches, but we have all the time."

Islamic State gets this. They watch the West collapse in on itself, fiscally, culturally, and socially and just wait it out. The two-front war to re-take the Caliphate is going like clockwork. In the occupied lands they are well on their way to erasing all vestiges of the former Christian world until there is only one God left, and Muhammad is his prophet. On the front lines from Paris to Malmo to London to Dearborn, the mideast will just keep sending over wave after wave of colonists; this mass migration from some of the most backward, illiterate and misogynistic regions on the planet into Europe has only just begun.

In three generations they will out-breed and out-convert the vastly depopulating European natives. Eventually Old Europe will be nothing more than old men and women with bouncing pension checks shuffling by the empty structures which in earlier times were known as churches while the crowds at the ever more numerous mosques overflow into the streets.

But remember. You cannot say such things. So the most wide-spread and vicious purge of the true religion of peace since Nero continues with nary a word of protest other than the boiler-plate State Department condemnations "in strongest terms possible" short of any meaningful action.

In the film "Schindler's List," one of the most disturbing scenes involves not cruelty or murder, but rather the proffering of the idea that the past can be altered, even erased completely. In his address before the liquidation of the Krakow Ghetto, SS-Hauptsturmführer Amon Goethe tells his stormtroopers: "For six centuries there has been a Jewish Krakow. By this evening, those six centuries are a rumor. They never happened. Today is history."

Even if history doesn't truly repeat, it certainly does rhyme. Islamic State is well aware of this, even as the West remains in a cloud of politically correct oblivion to its ultimate fate.
