The Morally Bankrupt Left Still Has Cash For Planned Parenthood

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

If true, then a video is worth a million.

Seven videos, then, are worth exponentially more.

Never has it been so easy to pinpoint the fight between good and evil, right versus wrong, truth versus fiction than the more than half-dozen videos released by the Center for Medical Progress in recent weeks showing Planned Parenthood Medical Directors discussing the sale of fetal tissue and Lamborghinis over boozy lunches.

A seventh video released this week ups the ante significantly, revealing that Planned Parenthood-affiliated companies allegedly harvested the brain from a late-term fetus whose heart was still beating. This comes on the heels of a previous video in which personnel stated that the organization extracted body parts of aborted babies and sold them without the consent of the mother.

These are the most heinous allegations yet against Planned Parenthood and their business practices.

In all truth, I expected Democrats to be silent on this. You know, silent ... as in an, "all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" sort of silence.

Yet a political party beholden to Planned Parenthood campaign contributions can't afford to stay quiet. While the left may be morally bankrupt, they have given plenty of cold, hard cash to Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood chapters across the country have given in excess of $50 million to campaigns and candidates since 2004. The largest donations came from Planned Parenthood's most active chapter in Los Angeles, which has spent $6 million on political activity. (Note: the Los Angeles chapter is where both Dr. Deborah Nucatola and Dr. Mary Gatter, featured in the above notorious videos, are based.)

According to Crowdpac - a nonpartisan data compilation firm - Planned Parenthood's national and local organizations have donated $4,136,889 to federal and state candidates since 2004. The number is even higher - $5.2 million - when Crowdpac factored in donors who list Planned Parenthood as their employer or occupation. Among Planned Parenthood's campaign contributions, 83 percent of those donations went to Democrats.

As for Congress, Planned Parenthood has donated $1,231,663 to current incumbents since 2004, and the percentage of donations to Democrats is even higher: 99.98 percent.

Planned Parenthood has also given solely to Democrat organizations: $90,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee; $35,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee; $27,100 to the Democratic National Committee. The total amount given by Planned Parenthood to the Republican National Committee? Zero.

The Bible says, "Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person." (Deuteronomy 27:25) Yet even as America stands witness to pure evil unfolding on-screen, some Democrats are not only taking campaign cash, they are doubling down on their financial allegiance to America's most notorious abortion factory.

In fact, they are aiding and abetting Planned Parenthood's all-out war on anyone who now dares to speak the truth.

The taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood has hired a public relations firm to manage the crisis and is in the process of attempting to shut down free speech by intimidating Media outlets.

In recent weeks, the organization also sought a court order from a judge in California to squash the release of new videos.

Even the liberal media has been providing cover for Planned Parenthood by giving the story only a fraction of the time that Mitt Romney's "47 percent" video was given.

Now, the liberal Obama administration is threatening to revoke Medicaid from states that defund Planned Parenthood. While the threat could be a bluff or a strongarm tactic by the administration and has since been mostly debunked, it would be a logistical nightmare for governors who would be left with millions of uninsured residents. (To their credit, pro-life groups have since released a nationwide map of community health centers that could step in to provide women's health services, thus debunking the Planned Parenthood myth that suddenly women everywhere would be forced to forgo other valuable healthcare services such as mammograms.)

Even if one believes the spin from Planned Parenthood that other services they provide far outweigh the abortions they perform, the means simply don't justify the ends. In a truly civil society, we simply cannot look the other way while evil acts are performed -- no matter what small acts of good they may perform on the other days.

Why does the Planned Parenthood scandal matter?

It matters because Democrats are always chiding Republicans about helping children (i.e., cradle-to-grave taxpayer-funded programs), caring for the sick (read: Obamacare), and providing for the less fortunate (hello, 47 percent!) But for some reason, when it comes to the most vulnerable among us (read: babies), Democrats have taken an absolute moral leave of absence.

On this issue, the Republican Party is right.

The 2016 GOP candidates are among just some of the Republican leaders calling to defund Planned Parenthood. Now, more than ever, the Republican Party is proving it is the party of life and opportunity. After all, how can a human being have any opportunity in life, if he or she doesn't even have the opportunity to have a life in the first place?

We are now over halfway through the 12-video library that CMP has promised to release. If the first seven videos are any indication, the videos stand to show more -- not fewer -- heinous practices at the hands of Planned Parenthood.

Now, as Planned Parenthood waits for the next video to drop and as media editors across the nation hold internal discussions on how much more coverage to provide the stomach-churning topic, our nation has some reflection to do.

In Jeremiah 2:34, the Bible states, "On your skirts is found the blood of the lives of the poor innocents. I have not found it by secret search, but plainly…" There is relevance in the centuries-old scripture. While Planned Parenthood continues to complain that the videos were taken in secret, we are not fooled; Planned Parenthood has long been performing these on-demand abortions in our neighborhoods, in our communities, in plain sight.

If the first six videos were not enough to stop us in our tracks, the seventh ought to stir us all to become pro-choice in the truest sense -- by choosing to walk away from this at-will evil once and for all. It is our only hope if America wishes to remain a civilized society.
