It's been difficult to sift through all the stories and rhetoric surrounding Glenn Beck's 8/28 rally. And though the message can easily get muddled, here's what we know: Beck believes that the America envisioned by the Founders is slipping away, and so he held a rally to remind us all of our founding principles.
As Lexington Green observes:
Beck is building solidarity and cultural confidence in America, its Constitution, its military heritage, its freedom. This is a vision that is despised by the people who have long held the commanding heights of the culture. But is obviously alive and kicking.
And when you hear things like this, you have to admit both Beck and Green are on to something:
