First Declared GOP Presidential Candidate: Obama 'Needs Zoloft

It was a day of firsts in the nation's capital Wednesday as the first official candidate for the 2012 presidential election filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission declaring his candidacy for the White House. The first 2012 contender also happens to be the first openly gay Republican running for president.

Retired California political consultant Fred Karger has already made campaign stops in Iowa and New Hampshire, run television ads and met with young Republican activists in key battleground states.

Earlier this week, Karger met with officials at the Republican National Committee (RNC), including chairman Reince Priebus, Mother Jones reports.

On Wednesday morning, Karger sat down to talk about his campaign with CBS News:

Karger also took time to critique some of his potential 2012 GOP opponents, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who Karger says is "living in the past":

And, of course, Karger examines Obama's presidency, concluding the commander-in-chief "needs Zoloft":
