Neil Cavuto & Liberal Congresswoman Have Must-Watch Smack Down Deficit Debate
April 13, 2011
"You know what? Your problem is, you just don’t listen..."
On his Fox News show this afternoon, Neil Cavuto spoke--spiritedly--with Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas) about the deficit.
For a sense of how animated their debate was, consider this exchange:
Cavuto: "We're going to hell in a hand basket"
Johnson: "I think you're already there!"
In their must-watch seven-minute debate, you really get a sense of the conservative position (we're broke!) versus the liberal position (raise taxes to keep spending!).
As Cavuto repeated his mantra throughout the interview--we're broke, broke, broke, broke, broke--Johnson managed to get her two cents in, saying:
You know what? Your problem is, you just don’t listen. You just scream and you’re screaming the same thing these fools are screaming here. We've got to have innovation.
She went on, "We've got to still have vision, we've got to still have research...we still got to educate our young people." If the cuts to spending are too deep, we'll have "no education, no innovation, no health care--seniors will be out of nursing home," she concluded.
We need to INVEST! she said.
"We don't have money to invest," Cavuto responded wryly.
Well it's easy enough to get it, says the congresswoman: Raise taxes!
