Before Biden, there was Prince Philip

Britain's Prince Philip will soon be celebrating his 90th birthday. As husband of Queen Elizabeth II he's been trotted all over the world to officiate at ceremonies - just like our VPOTUS does! And just like our VPOTUS, he has a long and wonderful history of saying regrettable things.

Unlike Joe Biden, Philip doesn't need to worry about being re-elected because he was never elected. It's that monarchy thing. So he's free to run his mouth off whenever he feels like.

In honor of Philip's nonagintennial birthday UK's Independent newspaper has compiled 90 of the Prince's best gaffes. Here's a delicious sampling:

"Aren't most of you descended from pirates?"

In the Cayman Islands, 1994.

"You could do with losing a little bit of weight."

To hopeful astronaut, 13-year-old Andrew Adams.

"Can you tell the difference between them?"

On being told by President Obama that he'd had breakfast with the leaders of the UK, China and Russia.

"Reichskanzler."

Prince Philip used Hitler's title to address German chancellor Helmut Kohl during a speech in Hanover in 1997.

Bonus: He actually looks like an elderly Biden.

See all 90 over at The Independent.
