Sword-Wielding Teenager Stabs Great-Grandmother to Death After Being Told to Turn off Video Game

A common argument between family members and teenagers turned deadly Monday afternoon.

A 14-year-old boy is in custody after stabbing his 77-year-old great-grandmother to death with a sword, and allegedly cutting his grandmother, police say. Family members say the attacks started after relatives asked told him he would have to turn off his video game soon.

Police in Douglasville, Georgia responded to a call from the grandmother Monday evening that she made as she barricaded herself in her room to get away from her sword-wielding grandson. When deputies arrived, they said the boy was standing in the doorway with a "full-sized sword" and a pellet rifle.

'He came out with a pellet gun and shot two windows out of a patrol car that was sitting there. He was shooting at us with the pellet gun and swinging the sword around in the air,' said Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller. The local CBS affiliate reported that officers showed a lot of restraint by not shooting the boy and using an explosive device to distract him instead. Eventually, deputies had to taser the boy.

CBS takes a look into what the sheriff is calling one of the worst cases he has seen in his 40 years of law enforcement in this video.

Police said it was the third time in the last three months the teen had been arrested and they already confiscated another sword off him. . Each time deputies arrested the teen, they took him to the hospital for evaluations and doctors released him.
