New Obama Ad: President Under Attack by 'Secretive Oil Billionaires

"...independent watchdogs call his record on ethics 'unprecedented.'" -- WaPo: Ad gets "three Pinocchios" --

President Obama's re-election campaign has released a campaign video that claims, among other things, the president is the target of "secretive oil billionaires:"

According to the campaign ad, attacks on President Obama are unwarranted because "independent watchdogs call his record on ethics 'unprecedented.'"

However, standing directly opposed to these "independent watchdogs" are several critics who have challenged the president's record on transparency.

Furthermore, when the Obama campaign ad mentions that "independent watchdogs" vouch for the president's "unprecedented" track record of ethics, it should be pointed out that this quote is from April 28, 2009 -- 99 days after the president's inauguration. Of course, the "unprecedented" track record quote could also be in reference to the president's 304 days of experience with an in-session U.S. Senate.

The rest of the campaign advertisement is a litany of economic "successes" the Obama administration claims to be responsible for, including the addition of 2.7 million jobs to the clean energy industry and bringing the United States' dependency on foreign oil below the 50 percent mark for "the first time in 13 years."

And yes, in case you were wondering, those are solar panels and this commercial is advertising the Obama administration's track record on "green energy" initiatives.

The ad is described on its official YouTube as follows:

President Obama has taken steps to make us energy independent and create an economy that's built to last. He's been a strong supporter of domestic energy production, has made historic investments in clean energy technology, and has nearly doubled fuel-efficiency standards for cars and trucks. Because of the progress we've made, our dependence on foreign oil is the lowest it's been in 16 years. Yet, conservative groups funded by big oil are spending millions trying to distort the President's record.
