"I think that that point was overlooked in the initial coverage of the decision."
--Jay Carney in yesterday's White House press briefing. The "point" he's referring to is that, as he says, "the President is very interested in finding the appropriate balance between religious beliefs and convictions" and "that women of all faiths have access to these important health care preventive services." In the same briefing, Carney dodged questions as to whether the Obama administration is willing to compromise on the mandate that religious institutions offer health insurance options which include contraceptive coverage.
