Biden Reportedly Booed When He Brings up Obama During 'Imagine' Commencement Speech

"Imagine a world, in which hunger is vanquished by crops that don’t depend on the soil, water or fertilizer, or pesticides to thrive..."

Vice President Joe Biden gave a speech to graduating seniors of Cypress Bay High School in Florida Monday, where he spent close to four minutes encouraging the students to "imagine" all that they would see in their lifetimes. What he probably didn't imagine, however, was that he would get booed during the proceedings.

"That’s my simple advice to you today: Imagine," he begins.  “Imagine the progress you will see and achieve in your lifetime.  Imagine the breakthroughs that are on the horizon and just beyond it..."

“[Imagine] putting a roof of solar shingles [on your house] that will cost no more than today’s ordinary shingles...Imagine a world in which hunger is vanquished by crops that don’t depend on the soil, water or fertilizer, or pesticides to thrive...Imagine a world in which nations no longer depend on nuclear weapons for their defense

But Biden didn't spend the entire speech focused on what he apparently considers to be an idyllic tomorrow.  He also discussed President Obama at one point and, according to reports -- the crowd booed.

Discussing the inauguration, Biden reportedly said: "I was being picked up by a friend, an African American friend, Barack Obama," and the crowd reacted with a mixture of "boos" and applause.

However, there is video of Biden's reaction.

Raising and waving his hand, he says: "Regardless of your politics, this is not a political comment, it's about transition in America."

While we can't be certain without the entire video, Biden's subsequent remarks indicate that at least he thought the students were rejecting the president's politics, and not his race.

Biden summed his imaginative speech: "What we imagine today, you will build tomorrow, and when you do, it will be revolutionary not only for your generation, but for this nation."
