Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was partially evacuated Wednesday morning following a bomb threat, WTOP reported.
A "code black" announcement, referring to a suspicious package or a bomb threat, was made at the Bethesda, Md. center at approximately 9 a.m. NBC News subsequently reported a U.S. official said there did not appear to be an active threat but that a precautionary search was ongoing.
An email sent to Walter Reed staff stated no personnel, patients or visitors were allowed into "building 19" and that no one was allowed to leave, according to WUSA-TV. The Daily Caller reported building 19 was evacuated.
Traffic was still being allowed onto the center grounds, according to WUSA.
A message on Walter Reed's website said all appointments at the Bethesda location were suspended until 1 p.m.
