The Simpsons' Pre-Election Episode Trashes Romney's Faith & GOP Policies: 'I Hear He Wears Magic Underpants

On Sunday evening, FOX's pre-election episode of "The Simpsons" got political. Rather than sitting out of the 2012 presidential race, the edgy cartoon decided to join the majority of Hollywood in spouting anti-Republican messaging and themes. Aside from taking aim at candidate Mitt Romney and the Mormon faith, the show tackled "death panels" and voter identification laws.

In a highly-controversial scene, Homer Simpson arrived at a polling place, where a white man with a cowboy hat asked to see photo identification. "Stopping all Americans from voting is for the protection of all Americans," the man proclaimed. But once Homer explained that he is a "40-year-old white guy who didn't go to college" and that he gets all of his news from monitors at gas stations, the poll worker let him in to vote.

Once inside the booth, Homer weighed his options, highlighting a number of policies and personal attributes associated with Romney and President Barack Obama.

"I've already got one wife telling me to eat healthy. Plus, he promised me death panels and grandpa's still alive," he said of Obama.

The character's comments about Romney, though, were much more pointed -- and offensive.

"Mitt Romney, I hear he wears magic underpants. I expect the leader of the free world to go commando," Homer said. "Plus, his horse totally choked at the Olympics. On the other hand, he did invent ObamaCare."

After selecting Romney, Homer is given the opportunity to view the candidate's tax returns, where he learns that the Republican has "six wives all named Ann," among other "facts." When he threatens to go to the press with the information, he is outsourced -- literally -- to China.
