Watch How These Passengers React After Lightning Sets Their Plane's Engine on Fire

Even seasoned travelers might blanch at the prospect of a night flight with extreme turbulence after lightning has set the plane's engine on fire.

But that's exactly what happened on a Jan. 24 Turkish Airlines flight from Izmir to Istanbul, and one traveler got the entire scene on video.

There were 114 people aboard, the Telegraph writes, when "passengers began to panic...but the pilot quickly activated the motor's own fire-extinguishing gear, declared an emergency and landed safely."

Video shows sparks flying from the plane's engine for roughly 10 seconds before shakily scanning the plane's impressively calm passengers.
