Republican Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell responded today to a blog post by RedState editor and Fox News contributor Erick Erickson, in which he called McDonnell "pathetic" and "a liar."
"It's disappointing," McDonnell said on MSNBC. "I can say that I'm governor of Virginia. I got elected to solve problems. The business rankings and the quality of life and the job-creating capacity for our citizens goes down because of traffic congestion. I took it on. We found a way to fix it. Would I have liked to have done it in some other ways? Absolutely, but this was the way we were able to get it done."
Erickson wrote on RedState yesterday... that McDonnell's decision to raise taxes on Virginians to fund new transportation projects proved him to be a "sell out." Erickson called McDonnell, who was thought to be among Mitt Romney‘s top choices for vice presidential nominee, "the worst kind of Republican."
McDonnell is scheduled to speak at CPAC next month.
