The Rubio-Cruz Guide to Making Filibusters More Fun

Let's face it: While they may have significant political ramifications, filibusters in the United States Senate can get kinda boring after a while. I mean, 13 hours of non-stop talking?  That's a total snoozefest for most Americans.

Fortunately, we have fun folks like Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz to keep things interesting for people whose attention spans do not extend to the Federalist Papers.

Did you watch the filibuster yesterday?  Did you happen to catch Ted Cruz's Patton & Shakespeare references?  Marco Rubio quoted rapper Jay-Z and even managed to sneak three different quotes from "The Godfather" into his remarks.

“I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.”

“Fredo, you’re my older brother, and I love you. But don’t ever take sides with anyone against the Family again.”

“A lawyer with his briefcase can steal more than 100 men with guns can steal.”

“I don’t know how that is relevant to this but I thought it was a pretty good quote and I thought I’d bring it up,” Rubio admitted after the third "Godfather" reference.

It sure beats reading the phone book.
