LOOK: Two Deer in a Bit of a Pickle Over Weekend

Two deer at opposite ends of the country -- one in Minnesota and one in Florida -- over the weekend could not seem to keep their heads out of trouble.

A deer in the Florida Keys is breathing more easily after a deputy freed it from a Doritos bag over its head Saturday.

The Monroe County sheriff's deputy discovered the Key deer while on patrol late that evening. Its entire head was stuck in the chips bag.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin says the deer allowed the deputy to remove the bag without a struggle.

Herrin reminds Florida Keys visitors to properly dispose of trash to protect animals from harm.

In a separate incident up in Hermantown, Minn., a whitetail doe had gotten its head stuck in a jar and it was up to Janet Murphy, whose yard it was in, to help it out.

The Duluth News Tribune reported Murphy tried putting in calls to emergency services and the Department of Natural Resources to help the animal, but when they didn't show, she took matters into her own hands. Posting about her issue on Facebook, a volunteer came forward and provided a pole so she could gently noose the deer to try and pop the jar off.

“When I started securing it, she started jumping just like in a rodeo,” Murphy told the News Tribune. “Up in the air and down. Side to side. She got on the ground and started to roll.”

Murphy held her ground -- and the pole -- though, pulling it toward the ground and the jar eventually "popped right off."

The deer walked toward the woods but was later back to get food from Murphy's feeder. She hasn't seen the animal since.
