Former Mayor Ed Koch spent years planning his funeral and burial, but apparently his tombstone engraver didn’t get the memo.Koch’s 5-by-6-foot granite grave marker at Trinity Church Cemetery in Washington Heights was erroneously etched with the wrong date of birth — Dec. 12, 1942 — which would make Hizzoner 18 years younger than he actually was.
His accurate date of birth was Dec. 12, 1924.
The wrong inscription, first reported Monday by NBC 4 New York, would have made Koch a child during World War II, even though the stone’s inscription says he served in the armed forces during that war.
