64-Year-Old's Robbery Attempt Foiled by Unlikely Difficulty

"The most bizarre incident."

A 64-year-old man allegedly robbed a woman at knife point over the weekend, but his plans to steal her car were foiled when he took too long trying to load his items, including a walker, into the vehicle.

The Geelong Observer reported authorities saying the Australian man stopped the 22-year-old female in a KMart parking lot, threatening her with the knife. The woman exited the car at which point she called emergency authorities while the man put his walker and later other bags he had with him into the car, according to Geelong Senior-Constable Paul Mitchell.

Police were able to apprehend the man before he drove away. He reportedly was going to go to South Australia.

Mitchell told the Observer it was "the most bizarre incident."
