CNN Makes Egregious Mistake With George Zimmerman's Confidential Information

In a significant mistake, CNN apparently broadcast George Zimmerman's social security number, address, telephone number and date of birth.

On Monday at 12:16 p.m. ET, CNN broadcast a photocopy of a document that included Zimmerman's personal information, Politico reports. The image appeared above a chyron that read, ""Detective: Zimmerman Seemed Sober."

CNN put the document on screen as it was shown to the jury during the Zimmerman trial. Zimmerman is claiming self-defense in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

UPDATE: CNN has reportedly issued the following statement:

Routinely the evidence is first given to the Court Clerk for redaction, and that didn’t happen in this instance. The Court is circling back to attorneys on both sides to make sure they give the Clerk’s office the opportunity to redact the necessary information.
