Al Sharpton can't endorse Spitzer because he's 'in the middle of the Trayvon Martin thing
July 17, 2013
A nugget buried at the very bottom of a New York Daily News story about Rev. Al Sharpton and his new 35-year-old girlfriend:
Though Sharpton was tight-lipped about his personal life Monday, the normally press-loving rabble-rouser was happy to pontificate with reporters on the city’s political races.Eliot Spitzer and Scott Stringer — Democratic rivals in the high-profile race for city controller — had both recently reached out to him, he said.
“I have not made an endorsement there. . . . Both of them have called me and I told both of them that I was in the middle of the Trayvon Martin thing,” he said.
You know. That little Trayvon Martin "thing."
