Allen West after Zimmerman Verdict: 'I Am Tired of White Liberals Invoking the Heinous Memory of Lynchings

Former U.S. Rep. Allen West (R)—who a year ago called Trayvon Martin's killing “an outrage” meriting a federal Department of Justice probe and that George Zimmerman had “no authorization” to shoot the unarmed teenager—has broken his silence in the wake of  Zimmerman's not-guilty verdict Saturday.

While West didn’t specifically comment on the verdict on his Facebook page, the Palm Beach Post notes that he's "tired of white liberals invoking the heinous memory of lynchings," and he excoriates the “usual suspect race baiters."

West also decries the focus "on the symptoms which promote political gain, not the disease which now afflicts the black community," noting a host of other young African-American lives that recently have met violent ends.

West—formerly one of two black Republicans in the 112th Congress and whose Facebook page sports more than 340,000 “likes”—got nearly 37,000 likes and more than 3,700 comments as of noon EST Wednesday since his post went live yesterday:

West adds that he'll appear on "The O'Reilly Factor" Wednesday night "to talk about the high rate of black-on-black crime and how that fact seems to be missed by the 'geniuses' at the DOJ."
