It may not be on the level of the "Dewey Defeats Truman" headline faux pas, but you know there had to be some serious John Elway hangover happening with whomever wrote the above story headline (and let it slip into print) after the Denver Broncos' 49-27 win over the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL opener Thursday night.

Ahem...Peyton Manning? You know, the other legendary guy who throws passes for the Broncos in 2013?

The error by the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch (perhaps unable to "dispatch" from its collective brain John Elway's miraculous 1987 comeback playoff victory over the neighboring and heartbroken Cleveland Browns) went viral Friday morning, notes Yahoo Sports.

Unfortunately for the paper, Elway is 53 years old and has been retired from football for almost 15 years, so folks there had plenty of time to let the facts sink in. However, he's not far from the Broncos practice field as the team's executive vice president of football operations.

There was no mention of the goof in the online version of the article, which correctly gives Manning credit for the historic passing performance. But two readers weren't about to let the earlier error slide:
