Longtime GOP Senator Reportedly Told Harry Reid He Was Going to 'Kick the Crap Out' of Him Over 'Nuclear Option

Reid's response was pretty interesting.

Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) was apparently furious with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) decision in November to trigger the so-called “nuclear option,” a rules change that allows Congress to confirm most presidential nominees by a simple majority vote.

In fact, McCain was so infuriated with Reid that he reportedly told the Nevada senator he was going to “kick the crap out" of him, according to a New York Times Magazine article published Wednesday.

“John, I would expect nothing less," Reid reportedly responded.

Soon after the alleged exchange, McCain took to the floor of the U.S. Senate to slam Reid, calling the "nuclear option" ordeal a “black chapter in history of the Senate.” The Arizona senator in his criticism of Reid made sure to bring up the fact that the Senate Majority Leader in 2008 was explicitly against efforts by Senate Republicans to “go nuclear.”

“Boy, this gives new meaning as to where you stand on an issue as opposed to where you sit,” he said.
