Bride and Groom Leave Their Wedding Reception to Start Their Lives Together -- Minutes Later, Tragedy Struck

“Just to think she just got married and started on her beautiful journey of life and it just ended so suddenly."

It was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives. Instead, it ended in absolute heartbreak.

Kali Shay Dobson, 25, had just married the man of her dreams, Ryan Patrick Quinton, 27, when her life came to a tragic end.

After the two drove away from their reception in a Pontiac Firebird Sunday night, Quinton lost control of the sports car and it overturned on the Georgia highway.

Georgia Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Franka Young told the Marietta Daily Journal that Dobson was not wearing a seatbelt, which resulted in her being tossed out of the car and ultimately trapped under the stopped vehicle, where she died at the scene.

Quinton, who survived, reportedly told authorities that he lost control of the car while trying to miss hitting a dog. The incident is being investigated.

“Blood was drawn to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor,” Young told the Marietta Daily Journal. “The crash is still under investigation. Charges are pending.”

Friends and family have turned to Facebook to post condolences.

“A beautiful, joyful bride. Kali was & is forever a shining star,” one woman wrote, the Marietta Daily Journal reported. “Our hearts are broken.”

Patsy Jordan, who knew the family, called the death "traumatic."

“Just to think she just got married and started on her beautiful journey of life and it just ended so suddenly," she told the Marietta Daily Journal. "It was just hard to wrap my brain around something like that.”
