Cops Pull Over 150-Pound Male Cruising Down Suburban Road. His Crime? It Sure Wasn't Speeding.

ALHAMBRA, Calif. (TheBlaze/AP) — His name, police said, is Clark.

And when cops see a guy like Clark meandering down a suburban Los Angeles road all by himself, stopping him in his tracks and taking him in is probably the best option.

So what was it about him that caught the attention of law enforcement?

It sure wasn't speeding: Clark is a 150-pound tortoise.

The Alhambra Police Department joked on its Facebook page that the giant reptile was captured Saturday afternoon after a brief pursuit.

"The tortoise did try to make a run for it; but, our officers are pretty fast," the post said, adding that "our cuffs...well, not practical in this situation."

It took two officers to heft the hard-shelled creature into a patrol car. They then took the reptile to the station.

There's a happy conclusion to this tale as well: The reason cops learned the tortoise's name is because his "human family who actually live in Alhambra" claimed him, according to the Alhambra Police Department's Facebook page Sunday update.
