Shock GoPro Footage Captures Motorcyclist's Final Moments, Is Used in Road Safety Video

"I know he rode fast that day, he loved speed but he also loved life."

Shock GoPro footage released Thursday captured the fatal moment a car crossed into a motorcyclist's path in England, resulting in a deadly crash that claimed the biker's life.

The video shows David Holmes, 38, collide with a car at 97 mph in Norfolk, England when the vehicle unexpectedly rolled into his lane, the Telegraph reported. The 38-year-old was unable to maneuver out of the way and was killed on impact.

Holmes was traveling nearly 40 mph over the speed limit, however, the driver of the other vehicle did ultimately plead guilty to careless driving.

The footage — which has amassed more than 3 million views since it was posted to YouTube — was released by Holmes' mother for a road safety campaign, hoping the video would help prevent a similar incident.

"I want to be involved in this campaign because I feel something positive can come out of his loss. If we can prevent one accident; one family going through what we have been through then David would not have died in vain," she said, according to the Telegraph.

"I know he rode fast that day, he loved speed but he also loved life. This hasn’t been an easy thing to do but I just hope that somebody benefits from the warning; that people slow down and take time to look for bikes," the mother added. "I’m not a perfect driver, I’ve done silly things sometimes and I’ve been lucky to get away with them, David wasn’t lucky, the driver wasn’t lucky.”
