A 17-year-old U.K. schoolgirl received a terrifying surprise when she peeled open her banana this month.
"I took a banana into school and was going to have it in the morning but I spotted something," Hannah John told the Mirror. "There was a hole in it and inside there were around 80 tiny spiders."
"I did let out a scream," she added. "It was horrible and I hate spiders."

Classmate Georgia Davies also got a look at the fruit.
"It was horrible — we had no idea what type of spider they were but they looked horrible," Davies told the Mirror. "It looked like it was just a bit of tissue paper but when you looked closer you could see lots of legs inside the hole. It was disgusting."

John's biology teacher examined the insects and assured the 17-year-old that they were dead, the Mirror reported — but the teacher still took some precautions.
"My teacher told me to put it in the bin — but not the bin in her classroom," John said.
The schoolgirl said she was given the piece of fruit by her father who purchased it at the local supermarket.
