Who Josh Earnest Picked as the 'Nicest' White House Reporter Might Surprise You

White House press secretary Josh Earnest picked ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl as the “nicest” White House reporter. It might come as a surprise, considering that Karl tends to be among the two or three most aggressive reporters in the White House briefing room who regularly get questions during the daily press briefing. Earnest revealed his pick Tuesday on the new Bloomberg TV show, “With All Due Respect,” hosted by "Game Change" authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. Halperin asked Earnest who “the most consistently delightful reporter in the White House press corps" that he interacts with is. Earnest joked he might “tarnish the reputation” of who he named, but he eventually identified Karl. “Jon Karl is consistently the nicest, friendliest, most direct guy, down to Earth, friendliest individual you’d ever want to meet,” Earnest said.

Karl is known for his vigorous questioning in the White House briefing room, on Monday listing off Vice President Joe Biden’s recent string of gaffes. A week earlier, Karl pressed Earnest about the president laying blame on the intelligence community for the rise of the Islamic State. Karl also tangled with former White House spokesman Jay Carney, the latter once mocking him during a line of questioning. (H/T: Mediaite)
