Chuck Todd: Dem Running Against Mitch McConnell 'Disqualified Herself' With Cringeworthy Obama Dodge
October 10, 2014
"And Kentuckians expect her to cast a tough vote on anything?"
NBC "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd said the Democratic candidate running to unseat Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) "disqualified herself" from the race when she repeatedly declined to answer whether she voted for President Barack Obama.
In an interview with the Louisville Courier-Journal editorial board Thursday, Alison Lundergan Grimes was directly asked three times whether she voted for Obama and refused to answer each time. Finally, a member of the editorial board asked: "So you're not going to answer?"
"And Kentuckians expect her to cast a tough vote on anything?" Todd said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Friday. "Is she ever gonna answer a tough question on anything? You want to be a U.S. senator? If you can't say, if you can't find a way to stand behind your party's president — you can disagree with him, but you can't answer that basic question and come across looking that ridiculous — I think she disqualified herself, I really do, I think she disqualified herself."
