I Wasn't Looting or Anything': Pregnant Woman Goes Blind in One Eye Following Clash With Police in Ferguson

"I didn't have any weapons."

A pregnant woman who was at a gas station in Ferguson, Missouri, when chaos broke out Tuesday morning has reportedly gone blind in her left eye after police used a bean bag round to shoot the window of a car she was riding in, according to KMOV-TV.

Dornella Conners claims that she and her boyfriend, De’Angelas Lee, had simply stopped at the gas station that morning with no ill intent when the clash unfolded.

"I didn't have any weapons. I wasn't looting or anything," she told KMOV-TV. "I was just out with my boyfriend and we was just riding around just respecting Mike Brown."

Her account, though, differs quite a bit from what authorities claimed.

"They pulled up while we were coming towards the street, while my boyfriend De’Anglas was trying to get away, they blocked us from the side and the back," she said.

While Conners claimed that Lee, who was driving, was merely trying to get around police, authorities said that he actually drove toward them.

And that's when one of the cops — who was reportedly trying to protect himself — fired off the bean bag round, shattering the window and causing injury to Conners.

It's unclear which account is accurate, but police did say that shots were fired at the gas station that morning by someone and that 16 people were subsequently arrested on the premises; it is unclear if Lee was involved in what unfolded, though.

Police later issued a warrant for Lee's arrest.
