Take a Peek Inside This Cave and You'll Be Amazed at What One Man and His Dog Did Inside
December 02, 2014
"A few hundred years from now, no archaeologist is going to assume this was just some random guy's project."
One man, one dog and one gorgeous grotto.
A image gallery posted on Reddit Monday garnered widespread attention for what it shows: "Cave Digger" Ra Paulette carving his "magnum opus" from the sandstone of northern New Mexico.
On Reddit, the gallery had amassed more than 4,500 upvotes by Tuesday afternoon, and commenters expressed amazement at Paulette's work.
"This guy makes me think about what it means to be zen," one commenter wrote. "To truly enjoy something so wholly, without the stigma of social influence, is a beautiful thing."
"Amazing work and dedication," wrote another, while a third commenter noted, "That's a real mancave!"
See the beautiful photos in the album below:
Several commenters wondered whether future generations would believe the cave was the work of a single man.
"I feel like this is exactly how things like Stonehenge come about," one person wrote. "A few hundred years from now, no archaeologist is going to assume this was just some random guy's project."
While most people seemed impressed by the project, some couldn't help but crack jokes: "This is what you have to do when you're on the run from those art school student loans."
