I Believe God Has the Last Say': Cancer-Stricken Basketball Player, Her Body 'Shutting Down,' Shows the Strength of Her Uncommon Spirit

"I never give up."

"I believe God has the last say," Lauren Hill told the Cincinnati Enquirer, even as she admitted her "body is shutting down."

The Mount Saint Joseph freshman basketball player's matter-of-fact declaration of faith comes amid a battle with inoperable brain cancer known as DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma).

Hill knows "there's nothing I can do to stop it" — but she keeps going anyway.

When doctors said she may not survive the year, there was Hill appearing in Mount Saint Joseph's first home game Saturday — and she scored her team's first two points.

Does she pray? You bet. Of course she asks God to provide a cure, but more to heart of things for Hill is that her family "will fine when" when and if God calls her home.

"They're who I worry about," she told the Enquirer.

In the end, Hill — who's shared her remarkable story of courage with Glenn Beck — wants others to know "that I never give up."
