'You’re a Bigot!': Blaze Readers React to Country Singer Who Lashed Out at ‘Straight, White, Christian Males’
July 19, 2015
"I almost feel sympathy for the confused mess she has become. Almost..."
TheBlaze posted a story earlier this week about Chely Wright, a lesbian, Christian country singer who took to Facebook to lash out at straight, white Christian males who complain about political correctness.
“Something I’ve noticed on social media is that those who continually mock and complain that ‘political correctness is rampant and ridiculous — yada yada yada’ are most always straight, white, Christian males,” Wright wrote. “They’re people who’ve never had to rely on others to speak up for them to protect and correct systemic injustices that society has leveled upon them.”
Here's what some readers of TheBlaze had to say about her post:
varianceYou don’t pray to take the sin nature away. You’re human, you’re stuck with it, you pray to FIGHT the temptation and live a life denying yourself and surrendering to the will of Christ.
Just because I’m married does not give me license to entertain those lustful thoughts for women and engage in adultery. We’re broken, we’re all messed up, but you take all those troubles to the cross and live a new life in Christ. Your old self is dead, and a new man is born. You live after the Spirit, not after the flesh.
Chely Wright is mistaken on so many levels.
Who’s Chely Wright?
A quick perusal of the internet shows her on twitter belittling many conservative issues, Donald Trump, etc.
Chely, what part of “Go and sin no more” don’t you understand?
Call yourself a Christian if you like. I think I will start calling myself a supermodel or a brain surgeon.
Does someone want to tell poor widdle Chely that if it wasn’t for the existence of straight white males then she wouldn’t be on this planet to smear and denigrate them?
Game, set, match.
Straight, white, Christian men… The easiest group to attack in today's Obama society. By a lesbian, no less. She calls herself a Christian and then attacks Christians, in solidarity with the rest of the gay mafia who work in the public eye. This woman is confused about more than just her sexuality.
Just trying to put things in proper context.
I almost feel sympathy for the confused mess she has become. Almost...
Never heard of her. But don’t worry lady, most likely you won’t have to take any more money from straight, white, Christian males.
If she's so quick to judge those “lacking empathy toward those who practice PC” as only “straight, white, Christian males,” then why is Ms. Wright so lacking in empathy toward straight, white, Christian males? I guess by her own definition she was a playground bully when she was a child.
I’m so sorry, Chely…but I have the right to NOT be like you and your ideology of a perfect PC world.
Or is that beyond the scope of your reasoning?
It’s OK. She can say what she wants and I can do what I want, which is never buy a CD of hers ever or go to any of her concerts. (BTW, I’m not a white male sticking up for those pesky straight, Christian, white, males.)
Really, Chely…I have known several gay people...I worked for one...I never took issue with their sexual preferences. It wasn’t until gay people wanted to shove it down others' throats and publicize it. Why is it you feel the need to tell us you're gay? Most of us let gay people live their lives and rarely say anything about them. It's called free agency. But when you want to shove your lifestyle upon the public, make movies about it or teach our children about it, then that's where I draw the line. Go live your life, but please keep your sexual preferences to yourself…I don’t need to know, nor do my grandchildren!
“Wright, a Christian and a lesbian who has openly discussed how she reconciles her faith and sexuality. ..”
Reconciles? I think the correct word is “rationalizes.”
“Additionally, I’d bet my eye teeth that these men were often the big, mouthy bully on the playground at school who picked on the poor kid, the handicapped kid, the gay kid, the kid with glasses, the black kid and the kid with a single parent,” Wright concluded.
I’m confused. Who lacks empathy and kindness? Because she’s certainly not exhibiting any. She appears to be quite the bigot.
Let’s see: She’s making judgments about people based on their race, gender, sexual preference and religion.
Congratulations, Chely.
You’re a bigot!
PC is absolutely out of control. The left is way too sensitive and completely joyless. Freedom of speech applies only to them — and certainly not to anyone who disagrees with their views. They stand at attention looking for a wrong word or thought to ban. Well, I stand with all the good, white, straight men who've been discriminated against. They have rights, too.
Oh Chely, you've lost this white Christian male customer.
Do you think you can further your career by alienating a whole segment of the population?
Brilliant, Chely — insult your target audience. How well did that work for the Dixie Chicks when they went overseas and bashed Bush? (Which reminds me. Shouldn’t the Dixie Chicks have to change their name to stay PC?)
She doesn’t even know me, and she called me a racist, bigot and a bully in one sentence. Who's intolerant now?
