Video: Syrian Toddler Rescued From Under the Rubble of Bombed Building

Video has emerged on social media showing the dramatic rescue of a little Syrian girl who was trapped under a building that was bombed over the weekend.

Euronews reported that the girl had spent a night under the rubble. Her father and brothers were killed during the bombing by government forces.

The child's cries could be heard as rescuers dug into the rubble with their bare hands.

When the men pulled her out, bystanders emitted cries of “Allahu akbar,” or "God is great," express their joy.

It’s unclear how many were killed in Saturday’s attack on Douma outside the Syrian capital of Damascus, with reports ranging from 20 to several dozen.

President Bashar Assad’s forces have aimed their campaign at rebel-held areas, but civilians have paid a heavy toll.

The U.S. Embassy in Syria issued a statement condemning the attack:

An airstrike on Douma’s vegetable market and other residential areas a week earlier reportedly killed some 100 people.
