Driver of Hearse Carrying Flag-Draped Coffin Gets an Earful From Stunned Military Veteran: ‘This Is Absolutely Horrible’

“Excuse me, sir."

When Tiffany Gallaway, a military veteran, spotted a flag-draped coffin inside an unattended hearse in a North Texas Walmart parking lot, she became livid. In fact, she was so angry that she just had to say something.

So Gallaway waited for the driver to return to the vehicle, and that's when she let him have it.

“Excuse me, sir, is that a casket?” she asked the North Dallas Funeral Home hearse driver.

The driver responded by saying yes, while laughing simultaneiously, KTVT-TV reported. His answer struck even more of a nerve with Gallaway, who continued chastising the driver.

“This has got to be the most disrespectful thing I have ever seen in my life. I just want you to know that. This is absolutely horrible," Gallaway said. "That man died serving our country."

“I’m a veteran, and I would hope to God that when I pass – " Gallaway's candid objection was met with more laughter from the hearse driver “ – that they would have a little more respect for me," Gallaway finished.

The driver then cracked yet another joke, telling the military veteran, “You mean you wouldn’t want to go shopping at Walmart?”

North Dallas Funeral Home responded to the incident, telling KTVT-TV that the stop was not one that was allowed under its rules.

“The employee failed to follow our company policy regarding transporting between funeral facilities," the funeral home's statement said.

But Gallaway said this goes to show that some people have no respect for veterans these days.

“Who cares if you served? Who cares if you died? It doesn’t seem to matter anymore,” Gallaway said.

It's at least the third time in five months that an unattended hearse containing a flag-draped coffin has been spotted outside a place of business.

In May, someone snapped a picture of an unattended hearse carrying Lt. Col. Jesse Coleman outside a Dunkin Donuts in Lecanto, Florida. And in June, fast-food diners noticed retired Air Force Master Sgt. Bobby Hill's remains unattended in a hearse outside a Hardee's restaurant in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

It wasn't immediately clear whose remains were inside the hearse seen outside a Texas Walmart, and North Dallas Funeral Home did not immediately respond to TheBlaze when asked that question.
