The Newsboys hope to inspire a "love riot" (Newsboys/Facebook)

Members of the popular Christian band the Newsboys are hoping that their 18th studio album will inspire the masses to "have a love riot."
"I think we've seen enough rioting over hate, about hate or because of hate. As a band, I think we're over it," drummer Duncan Phillips told the Christian Post in a recent interview. "I know we've had some race riots. Black Lives matter, which they do."
The musician continued, "But then if I look at my Bible, every life matters."

According to the Christian Post, Newsboys members are hoping to use their platform to make a difference in the world, with Phillips telling the outlet that they want to spark a "love riot," which, coincidentally, is the title of the band's new album.
"I think what we want to say with this record is instead of all the hate we've seen, instead of all the wackiness we've seen...let's have a love riot. Our faith is a faith of love," he said. "It's the ultimate love that our creator, our maker, our savior came down from the right hand of the father out of love. Truly out of love, for no other reason and made that bridge between us and our father God."

Lead singer Michael Tait, too, reflected this same sentiment, explaining how he often takes to the stage to talk about the importance of love.
"Darkness has been so prevalent in our culture," he said. "Let's have a love riot — it's time."
