Hamas terrorists weaponized sexual abuse and rape against Israeli women in Oct. 7 attack: NYT

The New York Times recently published a comprehensive report on the systematic sexual abuse and rape carried out by Hamas terrorists against Israeli women on October 7. The investigation into the accusations has taken two months to complete.

The report includes interviews from more than 150 witnesses, first responders, medical personnel, rape counselors, soldiers, and even government officials. The report also made use of video footage, GPS data, and photographs to bolster the accuracy of the investigation.

The New York Times report begins with an explicit and heartbreaking description: "In a grainy video, you can see her, lying on her back, dress torn, legs spread, vagina exposed. Her face is burned beyond recognition and her right hand covers her eyes."

The woman was, at first, only identified as "the woman in the black dress." She was later identified as Gal Abdush, a 34-year-old mother of two from Israel. She had attended the Supernova festival with her husband, Nagi Abdush.

The authorities believe Gal was brutally raped before she was ultimately murdered and her body set on fire. Nagi's body was discovered days later, and it was burned so severely that a DNA test was needed to identify who he was, according to the Times of Israel.

The New York Times reported that it had identified at least seven locations in southern Israel where girls and women had apparently been sexually abused or mutilated.

There were reportedly 30 women in and around the Supernova rave site, as well as in two nearby kibbutzim, who were found in a similar position as Abdush: "legs spread, clothes torn off, signs of abuse in their genital areas."

The report noted that there was one incident during which a woman in a kibbutz who had been discovered with dozens of nails plunged into her thighs and groin. Video footage reviewed by the New York Times showed two female Israeli soldiers who had been shot directly in the vagina.

There was also a situation in Kibbutz Be'eri where two teenage girls, aged 13 and 16, were discovered with their clothes torn. One was found lying down with "bruises by her groin," and the other was found "sprawled on the floor face down," one paramedic said, "pajama pants pulled to her knees, bottom exposed, semen smeared on her back."

The Times of Israel noted that there was another medic, Jamal Waraki, a volunteer for ZAKA — a non-profit emergency response team — who said there was one image he could not get out of his head.

He described the state of a woman's body who was found at the rave site, saying, “Her hands were tied behind her back. She was bent over, half naked, her underwear rolled down below her knees.”
