Joe Rogan calls Dylan Mulvaney an 'attention whore' who is 'mentally ill' — blames ESG scores for disastrous Bud Light campaign

Podcaster and comedian Joe Rogan mocked transgender content creator Dylvan Mulvaney, calling him "mentally ill" and an "attention whore" in reaction to Bud Light's ongoing fiscal downfall.

Rogan, along with rapper/actor Ice Cube, spoke about the Bud Light controversy on episode 2004 of "The Joe Rogan Experience," and discussed possible reasons behind the the beer giant's disaster of a marketing campaign.

“The only time [capital] respects opinions is when people boycott s**t and it works, like this Bud Light thing, and now people are like, ‘Don’t do that again,'” Rogan said. "Be careful, because look what happened to Bud Light."

The pair were referring to Mulvaney's video in which he showcased a special edition Bud Light can that the brewer sent to him, which caused monumental backlash and a subsequent boycott.

“Who controls Bud Light? That’s the question,” Ice Cube replied. “Why would they make a dumb decision like that? Are they trying to ruin Bud Light? Are they trying to take down some of our most iconic American brands?” he added.

"I don't think they had any idea this was going to happen," Rogan replied. "It's this ESG thing, that everyone has to dedicate a certain amount of their time to 'woke' stuff."

"There's scores," Rogan continued. "The ESG score of the corporation determines what you get. The problem is also you get these people who are coming out of college, like this lady who made the decision for Bud Light. She's gone through the university system, she's in the corporate system, and she's a woman and she thinks 'we have to be more inclusive' and that's all the language everyone's using today," Rogan explained.

“ESG” refers to environmental, social, and governance standards that are used as scoring guidelines for some large investment groups. The higher a company's score, the more likely it is to receive capital for adhering to preferred corporate viewpoints.

“It’s for blue-collar drinking people and they like to watch football and drink Bud Light, and then all of a sudden you have this mentally ill person who’s just an attention whore," Rogan said about Mulvaney. "And you make a big deal out of putting this person's '365 days of womanhood' on a Bud Light can, then it's on."

“Once Kid Rock shoots your cans, you’ve got real problems,” Rogan said in reference to the rock star shooting cans of Bud Light with a rifle.

Ice Cube, who recently said he is on a tour to expose the "gatekeepers," had commented in May 2023 that "nothing has changed" for black people who have "overwhelmingly" supported Democrats for over 50 years. He insisted that change is needed.

The rapper also said "gatekeepers" in the media and NBA have refused to discuss his basketball league, the Big3.
