Mick Mulvaney vows Democrats will 'never' see Trump's tax returns

Never not ever, he says, and adds that the Democrats knew this before they tried their "political stunt."

White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney didn't mince words when asked on Sunday about whether the President will continue to fight with Democrats over releasing his tax returns. They will "never see" those returns, he vowed to Bill Hemmer in an interview on "Fox News Sunday," who guest-hosted this weekend's show.

Hemmer asked Mulvaney whether he was expecting to see the renewed demand for tax returns, and he said that he wasn't.

"If they don't get what they want," they'll ask for something else, he said. But, 'they knew they're not going to get these taxes," he said.

"You believe the Democrats will never see the president's tax returns," Hemmer prompted for clarificatin.

"Oh no, never. Nor should they," said Mulvaney.

He went a step further, and said that "voters knew the President could have given his tax returns, they knew that he didn't, and they elected him anyway."

Hemmer built off that point, noting that even under audit you can allow people to see your returns, and Mulvaney confirmed that and repeated.

"You could always allow people to see it. That's not what happening here, the Democrats are demanding that the IRS turn over the documents," he said. "That is not going to happen and they know it. This is a political stunt."
