GOP congressman: Republicans are running out of time to keep their promises
June 09, 2017
Republicans have yet to repeal the Affordable Care Act and keep a host of other promises more than 100 days into President Donald Trump’s term.
“We have not passed any kind of repeal, even partial repeal, of Obamacare,” Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said on Friday’s “The Glenn Beck Radio Program.”
Speaking to guest host Mike Opelka, Gohmert objected to Republicans who seem to be dragging their feet when it comes to actually doing what they promised before the 2016 election.
“We haven’t done the tax reform we promised,” Gohmert added.
The congressman emphasized that Republicans should be making the most of the opportunity they’ve been given with a GOP majority in the Senate and the House, but they seem to be passing the buck already since word on Capitol Hill is that lawmakers may not do anything to repeal Obamacare or fight for tax reform this summer.
“This is our chance. We have got to get the big stuff we promised done this year,” he said, adding, “It’s not that foreign of a concept: doing what we promised.”
