Tennessee-based Veterans Power Powder Run raises money to benefit the troops

Joseph Schmitt, organizer of the Tennessee-based Veteran Power Powder Run, joins Doc Thompson on "The Morning Blaze" to discuss the origins of his idea and their plans for 2017.

"What I want to do is turn it over into a non-profit so we can have veteran service officers," Joseph reveals. "The whole idea is also to hire veterans only. When you have active and reserve service members, when they volunteer to work there — to help with the run — we do a letter of appreciation so they can put it in for their eval or for their Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal."

Doc offers to help promote the event and even possibly participate in the run, and reminds us of the importance of taking care of our veterans.

"I've got a couple of ideas on some things I want to do to raise some money for veterans and help fix the VA," Doc says. "I'm just interested in making sure we try to do it the right way so we get the biggest bang for our buck."

To see more from Doc, visit his channel on TheBlaze and listen live to “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson” weekdays 6–9am ET, only on TheBlaze Radio Network.
