Venezuelan president was caught eating on air while people are starving
November 03, 2017
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro paused during a state broadcast to take a bite out of an empanada before continuing with his speech.
People in the formerly wealthy country have been protesting almost daily over terrible socialist policies that have bankrupted the oil-rich nation. Venezuela has been battling devastating shortages of food, medicine and other essentials, and people are so hungry they have reportedly been driven to consume zoo animals, pets and food scraps picked out of the trash.
On today’s show, Glenn and Stu watched the clip in disbelief. They talked about how socialist leaders can begin as seemingly normal people and then become corrupted by power.
“Even in cases where the people started off with the best of intentions and were good people by all accounts, this failed as miserably,” Stu pointed out.
