Glenn: The history behind the Christmas tradition -- Who is Santa Claus?

Have you ever wondered where the idea of Saint Nicholas, as we think of him today, originated? Who really dreamed up the fur-suited fat man with a long white beard who rides around the world in a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer, handing out presents and stuffing stockings with Christmas treats?

"It is a treasure trove that will bring you closer to the holiday when you really know who Saint Nicholas is," explained Glenn on the show today.

Watch the clip above to learn the story of the German immigrant named Thomas Nast whose drawing of Santa Claus (based on the traditional German version of Sankt Nikolaus) debuted in Harper's Weekly, January 3, 1863.
