Trump says he'd 'love to see a shutdown' if Dems fail to come to an agreement on border security

Trump says he'd 'love to see a shutdown' if Dems fail to come to an agreement on border security

If Democrats can't come to an agreement on immigration reform, President Trump says, "let's have a shutdown."

The comment was made on Capitol Hill on Tuesday in reference to the violent MS-13 gang, lax immigration laws, and the dismissive attitude Democrats have toward helping American veterans.

"We'll do a shutdown and it's worth it for our country. I'd love to see a shutdown if we don't get this stuff taken care of," he said according to CNN.

"If we have to shut it down because the Democrats don't want safety, and unrelated but still related, they don't want to take care of our military, then shut it down. We'll go with another shutdown."

The federal budget will be held hostage and run out Thursday if Democrats and Republicans fail to come to a budget agreement.

According to CNN, both Democrats and Republicans are urging the president to avoid a shutdown altogether.

In a meeting between Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer prior to the president's comments, both claimed a deal was close.

On Wednesday's episode of "Pat Gray Unleashed," Pat discussed the president's appeal as he threatened to shut down the government over border security.
