Ex-NFL player allegedly shoots at woman's car because his child got slapped

Former Atlanta Falcons NFL player William Moore was arrested after he allegedly shot into a woman's car that had children in the back seat.

The former defensive player was arrested after an incident at a park in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on April 23, 2023, according to Fox News.

Moore allegedly shouted at the woman with profanity and accused the woman's niece of slapping his daughter. The woman told local outlet WSB-TV Channel 2 that she didn't see her niece slap the other girl, but she said that two girls were playing "a game like tag."

“He proceeds to say, your f’n niece slapped my daughter. And I’m like, well, sir, I apologize. I didn’t see that. I know that they were playing together,” the woman said, choosing to remain anonymous.

"He was livid over absolutely nothing," the woman told another outlet.

Video from a witness allegedly shows Moore trying to puncture the woman's tires, according to Yahoo News. It was also reported that another woman was also allegedly seen on video poking the woman's tires while she was speaking to Moore.

The woman says that after the events in the video, she attempted to speed away and claims she accidentally hit Moore's car, which is when the alleged gunshots occured. Moore allegedly exited his car and fired at the woman's vehicle that had two children in it.

Police arrested Moore and charged him with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of misdemeanor cruelty to children in the third degree, one count of criminal damage to property in the second degree, and one count of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, according to a booking receipt from the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.

The bond for all the charges totaled $21,700.

Moore was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2009 in the second round and played in seven season in the NFL. After making the Pro Bowl in 2012, Moore signed a new contract worth $32 million over five years, but was released after three seasons. His final year in the league was 2015. Moore is 37 years old.
