Faith Heated theological debate: do all dogs go to heaven?

Despite the fact that these photos are from February, and therefore dated, they’re new to me and I think they’re funny.

So they’re going up.

Oh, they’re also fake. According to The Cumberland Presbyterian Church website:

I have received several e-mails showing church signs with inappropriate text. Most often the e-mails show a Beulah Cumberland Presbyterian Church at war with another faith, especially Catholic.

These signs are a prank.

But prank or not, the back and forth debate on these marquees is hilarious.

“Do dogs go to heaven?” Oddly enough, I’ve actually heard grown adults debate this before (man, I really need to get out more often). Based on the fact that dogs hate me (or want to eat me), I think I can live with the idea of a dog-free heaven. But if there are dogs in heaven, well, that’s alright too.

Cats, however, are a different story. Let me explain: I hate cats. There.

I don’t know. I haven’t really put that much thought into this (and by “that much” I mean “any”).

Enjoy.

This is a hoot. It beats most of the religious stories that are marked with harsh language between Protestants and Catholics.

    Merry Christmas (after the fact)

It show you how willfully ignorance the catholic church is. And to think that the RCC claims to society that they gave man kind the Word of God. What a joke!

Well from my study of GODS WORD. GOD said the LION WILL LIE DOWN WITH THE LAMB no tears,no carnavers, nothing bad or violent.I do believe they go there GOD LOVES HIS ANIMALS as much as he LOVES US. All evil will be gone when the RESTORATION COMES. If someone sent you a letter and you didn’t take the time to read all of it how would the person feel when they took the time to write it or you only read the parts that you liked well GOD wrote us a letter and we should read all of it from beginning to end even the parts you may not like but you will get to really know who GOD IS AND WHAT HE OVERALL PLAN IS and where we as individuals fit into it we do have a purpose and the only way you will know what our part is in it is to read and study all of it.

      Bronco II:
Actually, the Bible does not say, “The lion will lay down with the lamb ” anywhere.
“If you only read part of the letter…………” I’m guessing you are refering to Isa.11:6-8
where it states that a wolf will lay down with a lamb. Also, this is not a passage that
refers to heaven, but rather Christ’s Millenial Reign on Earth.
However, I DO agree with your proposition concerning God’s precious creatures, in
particular, cats! Jesus is The Lion of the tribe of Judah, Not a wolf, eagle or bear.
      God bless you,
      E.T.

    Merry Christmas everybody.

All of this comes from a false view of heaven. Most christians have a a pagan view of Heaven, their #1 idea of heaven is that it will be a place where I can get what I always wanted but couldnt have with all of the things that I already hold dear in this life. Yes I believe there will be a blessed reunion in heaven but the Central focus in heaven will be The Father not the Splendor.

It is an interesting topic. In the Old Testament when God opens the mouth of the donkey, is it the donkey’s voice or the voice of the Lord? If it is the Donkey’s voice, then Animals must have more of a purpose than we think.

I won‘t fault you for your poor reference since you’re Mormon. But I also happen to be Mormon and a former Catholic. The donkey technically did not speak in the Old Testament. In fact you won’t find it anywhere in the LDS standard works. It was in the Apocrypha, a group of books not used by Latter-Day Saints. However, I get your point. and as Latter-Day Saints we know better. Even the rocks have spirits and were organized from intelligent matter. Luke 19:40 “And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”

I find the story in Numbers 22: 28
28 And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
Did the profile picture give it away?

You bet they do. They (all compaion animals) are a wonderfull gift from God. They comfort us, hang out with our unworthy selves, give affection and loyalty higher than most people, if given the chance. I have witnesed miracles involving animals, and was shown compassion through them by a loving Heavnly Father. Do not care if you believe it, I know what happened, I witnesed it, and cannot deny for my soul’s sake. They also bring great joy and fun, it would be a dull world without them and cats too.

My handicapped 10 year old son took a therapy horse for a walk one day after a session and told her all about how wonderful Heaven was going to be. He promised the horse no dogs would harm her because all animals loved each other in Heaven. My son was telling her how wonderful it would be for her to run with a big herd of horses and be free. Someone over heard the one way conversation and came to tell me how disturbed my son was. Sadly, that very night someone broke into the barn and shot her. The story then went around how my son seemed to know the mare was going to die. Rather than being happy for him and the peace he felt in his heart for the mare he loved so much, it gave them one more reason to pick on him. He has a very strong testimony that all animals go to Heaven, but not all people do. I agree with him.

Gen. 9:5 Animals as well as man will stand in judgement.
    Eccl. 3:21 Animals have souls.
Isa. 11:6-8 Animals will inhabit Christ’s millenial reign.
Read it and weep all you cat haters! I’ll pray for you.

      Sorry, @EL…
You’ve taken the Holy Scriptures COMPLETELY out of context.

Even IF animals had souls, I know CATS DO NOT !

Even IF cats had souls, I know NONE of them would go to heaven !

They cop an attitude, they TAKE all the love they want, they only love on you when THEY want to…
NOPE ! Cats won’t be going to The Good Place!

      LOL

(I also know a couple dogs that wouldn’t make it, but, they are the exception!)

      Ha HA ! LOL

I am the proud owner of 3 beautiful dogs. Spanky, Missie and Phoenix. I think of them as children and could not even contemplate a limited existance for my dogs. If I died and was lucky enough to make it to heaven only to discover that my dog‘s are’nt there, well, heaven would just not be heaven without them. Ya know?
