Top House Democrat scolds Trump: Shame on you for going after CIA

After calling President-elect Donald Trump a "propaganda piece for the Kremlin" Friday, Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.) on Saturday harshly criticized Trump's transition team for their dismissal of the results of a blockbuster CIA report.

After The Washington Post reported Friday that the CIA concluded Russia intervened in the presidential election to help Trump, the transition team issued a terse statement criticizing the agency for its handling of intelligence in the lead-up to the Iraq War.

Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, took exception to the statement, saying it damaged the integrity of U.S. elections when it dismissed and minimized the agency's intelligence report.

Further, he said the statement was a direct attack on the men and women who put their lives in danger to provide the best intelligence to protect the country and U.S. leadership "regardless of political party."

“Perhaps, once he has taken office, Mr. Trump will go to CIA and look at the rows of memorial stars in the lobby — each representing a fallen officer — and reflect on his disparagement of the intelligence community's work,” he said, according to The Hill.

Schiff has called for a "thorough investigation" into "Russian cyber actions."
